Welcome to the International Association of Administrative Professionals-Oregon Trail Chapter.   As a new member, this web page help you receive the most from your membership.  IAAP is an organization for administrative professionals who have mutual interests and the desire to elevate the standards of the administrative profession.

IAAP – International Headquarters

The IAAP mission is to enhance the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development.

Founded in 1942, IAAP is international in scope. There are almost 600 chapters such as ours throughout the US, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Canada, and Members-at-Large, along with affiliates throughout the world.

International Headquarters provides member services, educational events, networking ability with members throughout the world, certification program and other valuable resources for members.

District and Division

There are 35 divisions in the six districts of the association. Our division is a part of the Northwest District.  The Northwest District represents us on the International Board of Directors.  

The Oregon Trail Chapter is part of the Idaho-Oregon-Utah Division.  There are 15 chapters in the Idaho-Oregon Utah Division.   There is a division board and the division president represents us at the Northwest District level.  The division holds an annual meeting, supports the local chapter, and other educational events throughout the year.

Chapter

The Oregon Trail Chapter was established in 1946 with 43 members and growing. Chapter officers are charged with providing leadership and guidance for these members.  The chapter meets on the 2nd Wednesday from September through June (with the exception of December) for a business and educational meeting.

Members

IAAP membership offers the opportunity to grow intellectually and professionally, exchange ideas with others having similar interests, work in community projects, and assist young people in preparing for administrative careers.  Where there is opportunity, there is responsibility.   As a new member of IAAP, it is your responsibility to:

Abide by the International Bylaws and Standing Rules, Division and Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules;

Continually strive for accomplishment of association objectives; and,

Serve in any capacity that will best promote the interest of the association.

As we welcome you to our chapter, we are reminded that these are the commitments of all members. Every level of IAAP carries responsibility. The more you exercise the privileges of your membership, the more you will derive from it. The strength of the association is dependent upon the combined efforts of all members. By participating in association activities, you contribute to the growth of IAAP and the administrative profession.

Logging into IAAP Web Site

When logging into the IAAP web site for the first time you will need to create a login.   You will need to have your membership ID number to enter in the system.   It will give you instructions on setting up a password and a user id.  Once you have completed this process a whole new world will be open to you.   Link:  https://iaap-hq.org/eSeries/source/members/rmember1.cfm

IAAP Web Community

Do you have a desire to network with other admins around the world? How often do you think that it would be wonderful to have resources at your fingertips for the latest and greatest trends or new products on the market?    Well it is now here at your fingertips with the IAAP web community.  

Once you have created your login on the IAAP web site you will have access to the web community.   There are a few additional steps to configure your profile (IAAP New Web Community Instructions).   Be sure to click on the “save” button at the bottom of the form.

Recognition

IAAP at all levels recognizes and values our members.   International headquarters and Oregon Trail Chapter gives recognition to individual members in the following ways:

Pathway to Member of Excellence

The IAAP Pathways to excellence recognition program is designed to raise your value as a career-minded administrative professional by becoming a Member of Excellence.   The program has a set of guiding principles.  You can learn more about these principles by logging onto the IAAP web site and selecting the Member Resource tab.   Don’t miss this opportunity to be recognized as a Member of Excellence.

Chapter Member of the Year

Annually, Oregon Trail Chapter selects a Chapter Member of the Year.   The criterion is as follows:

  • Participation in chapter activities

  • Attendance at chapter meetings

  • Personal/professional growth of member

  • Promotion of IAAP in the chapter and the community

  • Genuine interest in achievement of chapter goals

  • Exhibits a genuine enthusiasm toward IAAP
